This episode features Dr Georgia Ede, a Harvard trained psychiatrist who specialises in mental health and the brain.
Dr Ede has spent 25 years researching the role of a Ketogenic Diet and Carnivore Diet and its impact on mental illness and brain disease namely dementia, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and bipolar disorder.
This episode discusses how the brain functions at an optimal state and the 5 neurotransmitters responsible for mood and optimal brain function. We discuss why cholesterol and saturated fat is important for optimal brain function, how fat regulates neurotransmitters (which are the chemical messengers in the brain), and how glucose spikes in the body also cause spikes in the brain.
Dr Ede discusses the worst foods people are eating everyday that destroy brain function and lead to common mental illness like dementia, Alzheimer’s, anxiety and depression. We also discuss side effects of medications, namely statins, the link between statins and dementia and its negative effects on your health, including the risk of type 2 diabetes, muscle pain and weakness, as well as cognitive impairment.
This episode is important for anyone who suffers a mental health disorder, and those seeking to optimise their brain function through diet and nutrition. You will learn specific science backed protocols to prevent brain disease and optimise the brain for performance, memory and focus.
